Our Story
It started around a table.
Two women, working with their hands, learning how to build something beautiful from scratch. Neither of them had planned to be here. Both of them knew, almost immediately, that this was exactly where they were supposed to be.
Lauren
Lauren spent her career as a large animal veterinarian — years of technical precision, a deep love of nature, and a hands-on relationship with living things. Then she lost her mother, and the life she'd been living suddenly felt like it needed a reboot.
She wasn't looking for a flower shop. She was in an Uber one evening when she spotted a sign in a window. Two weeks later, she was working there.
That's how it happens sometimes. The best pivots aren't planned — they're spotted from the back of a car at the right moment, when you're finally ready to see them.
Floristry gave Lauren a way to merge the technical and the tender. The same care she brought to her veterinary work, she now brings to every stem, every arrangement, every customer who walks in needing something beautiful for a moment that matters.
Katie
Katie thought she'd be a fashion designer, or an astronaut. She landed in the middle — a corporate career that looked good on paper until COVID made her stop and ask whether any of it was actually good.
It wasn't burnout that broke her. It was clarity. She was already a gardener. Already someone who knew how to make things grow. Floristry seemed worth a try.
A few years later, she knows it was the right call.
Katie's eye for detail is the quiet engine behind everything we make. She's the reason every stem is in exactly the right place, the reason our studio feels the way it does, the reason we actually mean it when we say no two arrangements are alike.
What We Built
We opened Blooms Collective because we wanted a space that was about more than flowers — a place where people come to create, connect, and slow down for a minute. Our studio at Dupont Circle is that place. It's where we design arrangements, run workshops, collaborate with local makers, and get to hear the stories of the people who walk through our door.
Every customer has one. The birthday, the loss, the anniversary, the ordinary Tuesday that needed something extraordinary on the counter. We take all of it seriously.
We're proud to be part of the DC creative scene — working with small farms, supporting women-led growers, and building something that feels real because it is.
